Happy World Book Day!
World Book Day is a global day of celebration of books, authors and READING! In the U.K and Ireland, World Book Day is always celebrated on the first Thursday in March. For more information, please visit http://www.worldbookday.com/
We started our morning with a reading breakfast. Food was very kindly provided by the Student Council. We watched stories being read online by actors and authors while we enjoyed our treats 🙂
Zita, Armin’s mom, very kindly came in to read to us in her native Lithuanian. Other children in the class shared stories in Polish and English, while Kevin and Ailbhe read as Gaeilge. It was lovely to hear so many languages! We also designed bookmarks and book covers, and wrote a short story inspired by a picture of a tiny girl dangling her feet in a cup of milk.
We ended the day by sharing our stories. Students sat on the Author’s Chair and read their imaginative composition aloud. Well done everyone, they were fantastic!
What a day!

Tomorrow we are getting midterm break and the students from 3rd class will be taking a very well-earned rest!
Congratulations to Ailla who was chosen as the winner of our handwriting competition. Her piece has now been entered into the I.N.T.O National Handwriting Competition. A very big well-done must also be said to Alessia (2nd place) and Kosi (3rd place). Great job!
In Art, we have been learning about the artist Jackson Pollock. He was famous for inventing SPLATTER ART! Can you guess what splatter art might look like? We cleared away all of the tables and got to work in groups creating our very own splatter compositions. We made a big mess but had a lot of fun 🙂
Last Friday, we took part in the Operation Transformation 10@10. Schools all around the country were encouraged to undertake 10 minutes exercise at 10am. We proved how fit we were by running, jumping and…. dabbing!
I hope that everyone enjoys their week off. See you on the 27th!

Welcome to the 3rd class page! Here you will find regular updates of all the news taking place in our busy classroom.
We have been working extremely hard over the past few months but we have made sure to find time for some fun as well. Below are some photos from our year so far: “cave painting”, mummy competitions, blanket fort parties and our very first trip to the National Archaeology Museum in the city centre.
