World Book Day 2019
World Book Day was celebrated on Thursday the 7th March. During the week there were lots of activities going on right throughout the school!
On Monday, all classes were encouraged to dress up their classroom door as a storybook of their choice. Below are some of the entrants:
The lucky winners, chosen by our Student Council Committee members were Diarmuid’s 3rd Class who designed their door as a doorway into The Secret Garden and CJ’s Outreach Class who chose The Gruffalo as their stimulus. Both classes received a hot chocolate party as their prize. Well done to all the classes, the doors looked fantastic!
On Tuesday, Reading breakfasts ran throughout the school. Teachers and parents all kindly brought in lots of breakfasts goodies for the children to enjoy as they read some of their favourite books.
On Wednesday, book scavenger hunts ran throughout the school.
On Thursday, World Book Day, the senior classes setup a We’re going on Bear Hunt set in the hall. It looked absolutely fantastic and the junior classes loved reenacting the book.
Meanwhile a Book Tasting Cafe was setup for the senior classes.
and a Roald Dahl themed table quiz was organised for the middle classes.
In addition to all of these activities, the mobile library made their weekly visit to our school, some classes chose to dress up as their favourite storybook characters and all students received a World Book Day voucher to purchase a book of their choosing.
World Poetry Day was celebrated on Thursday 21st March with a Poetry Showcase in the school hall.
Well done to all of the children who took part and to every child who wrote a poem over the past few weeks!
