All about France!
We have been learning all about France for the last few weeks. We have learned about great French painters such as Claude Monet, le Tour de France, The Eiffel Tower, the Lascaux Caves and much more!
For art we were inspired to create beautiful water lilies like Claude Monet.

We flipped our tables on their side and stuck up our pictures to draw like the cavemen from Lascaux, France! We crumpled our pictures and soaked them in tea to give them an aged appearance.
The children created wonderful projects about the nature, geography, food, festivals and attractions in France, as well the the Tour de France.

I am so proud of all my little rays of sunshine for their fantastic performance last Friday. They did a brilliant job and brightened up an otherwise rainy Friday in Adamstown!

All about Length!
2nd Class have been learning all about length for the past two weeks. We had a lot of fun with our ‘I’m as Big As…’ height chart. Our class boasts children who are as tall as the length of the Statue of Liberty’s nose, as tall as the height of a Stone Age man or even the height of a grizzly bear on all fours!

We have been measuring using standard and non-standard units of measurements and have been measuring everything from home and classroom objects, our school and yard to our own body-parts! We collaborated with 5th Class to use trundle wheels to measure the length and width of the yard, the bicycle shed and the basketball court to name a few!

World Book Day Fun!
Thursday 2nd March was World Book Day. Children were encouraged to dress up as their favourite character from a book. We started off our day with some delicious breakfast treats, getting cosy on our cushions and sharing our favourite stories.
We were also lucky enough to have the South Dublin County Council Mobile Library visit our school. Everyone had the opportunity to borrow one book of their choice. We were very excited! We hope you all enjoyed World Book Day as much as we did!

S.T.E.M Week
We all really enjoyed S.T.E.M Week this year. S.T.E.M Week is a national, annual event that celebrates the fascinating worlds of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Your children will be able to tell you all about the different activities they participated in. Here are some photos of the children building their lego cities and creating structures with recyclable materials with some fifth class pupils!
Healthy Eating
In Adamstown we encourage and promote healthy living. In Orlaith’s 2nd class the children have learned about the importance of healthy eating and the food pyramid.

Celebrating Chinese New Year
Emilie’s 2nd Class would like to say a big thank you to Qing Wang. Qing is Eileen’s mum who came in on Chinese New Year’s Eve to help us celebrate Chinese New Year. She brought Chinese food, chopsticks, decorations and told us all about how the New Year is celebrated in China.
