ACETNS Girls Football Finish the league with a draw !!!

ACETNS Girls Football singed off their league campaign with a 0-0 draw earlier today in Airlie Park against St. Andrews Primary School Lucan. This has been a fantastic football season for the girls. We have finished 3rd in the league and won our first ever cup game (on penalties) .. the excitement was real !! . The girls finished with two wins, one draw and two losses. We will miss all our 6th class players next year and we hope to see them wearing the green of Ireland someday! I have encouraged all them to join clubs. (more driving parents.. sorry) !! They have shown great example to the 4th and 5th girls and who are already rearing to go for next season. We will have a few friendly games between now and the end of the school year. We will also have a pizza party and awards day at the end of May. I would like to thank Graham, John, and Denis for all their efforts both coaching and training the girls with me this season.

ACETNS GIRLS FOOTBALL WIN 3-1 AGAINST OUR NEIGHBOURS ST.JOHN’S IN THE LEAGUE !!!!

A brilliant performance by our girls football team today with a great win in the derby against our neighbors St. John’s playing at home in Airlie Park. The girls ran out 3-1 winners with two goals from our brilliant Stricker Lamees, one from play and one from the penalty spot. Our other goal was brilliantly set up by Ema and finished to the net by Matilda. All girls on the team contributed to a great game. The girls now have two league left and are right in the mix. Well done girls.

Boys Football Team

It was a busy week for our boys football team, with a league game against our local rivals St. John’s and a cup game against St. Patrick’s Corduff. The lads were over the moon to beat our neighbours 7 – 2. They played in a thrilling game against a very tough Corduff school then, unfortunately losing out 6-5. It was an incredibly brave performance from the boys who fought their way back from 4-1 down to get back to 4-4 before playing out a very dramatic and nerve wracking last 20 minutes. It wasn’t to be our day but the boys should all be proud of how hard they kept trying and playing right to the end!

ACETNS GIRLS FOOTBALL TEAM

Our boys and girls football season is in full swing and we have the added bonus this year of playing our home games and training on the beautiful  new astro turf facilities in Airlie Park.

Our Girls football team has kicked off the season and christened our new football facilities in style in the first round of the cup. Our first ever win in cup competition came against John Scottus Primary School and it went to penalty shoot-outs!! There was huge excitement in Airlie Park when Moya made the decisive save to send us through to the next round. Well done to all involved.

This week the girls competed in the FAI Primary 5-a-Sides competitions in Irishtown Stadium and our two teams did the school proud with some great performances. Sharpshooter Lamees scored 4 goals in three games and must get a mention.  We have had huge interest from 4th to 6th class girls which is great. It’s unfortunate that we can’t bring everyone to away games because of rules but we will try to bring all the girls to our home games and where possible give everyone some gametime after Easter. Training continues every Thursday after school in Airlie. Kevin will keep you posted on games and training.
